Garden Visit to Barnsdale Gardens

Over 20 people set off promptly at 9.30 in a small coach up the A1 to Barnsdale Gardens, arriving just in time for coffee!  Barnsdale gardens were created by Geoff Hamilton when he was on BBC Gardeners World, and after his death, his work has been continued by his son, Nick.  Despite the terrible forecast, we were very lucky to get away with only a little drizzle, and the gardens (some 38 small gardens) were looking very lush and beautiful.  The cafe and the nursery/shop were well patronised, and everyone enjoyed a very good day out

2024 Flower and Produce Show

The Show was held in The Great Barn at Manor Farm which is a wonderful venue to display all the entries.  The winners and second places in the classes are shown in the photos below, along with some general views of setting up the show.  It was a very successful show, with more entrants and entries than last year, despite the very wet weather in the week leading up to the show and also on the day!

The winner of the Dick and Joy Knight Plate was Geraldine Heath.  The judges choice of best exhibit in show was awarded to the winning entry in Class 5, a vase of mixed flowers and foliage which was entered by Jane Jackson.  Well done to all the winners!

50 years of Bourn Garden Club

To celebrate 50 years since Dick Knight set up the Garden Club in Bourn, a members' tea party was held in June 2024.  We had a wonderful afternoon with great company and some tasty sandwiches, scones and cakes.  Phyllis reminded us about the origins of the club, and we were able to see photos from years gone by projected onto the screen.  Many happy memories were shared, and optimism about the future of the club was widespread.
